We're pleased to share that Firefighters Credit Union and P&S Credit Union have agreed to merge, with Firefighters Credit Union continuing as the surviving credit union. The merger has been approved by the Utah Department of Financial Institutions and the National Credit Union Administration. P&S members will vote on the merger beginning October 1st. If they approve it, the merger will take effect December 1, 2026. Because Firefighters Credit Union is the continuing credit union, FFCU members are not required to vote. The P&S brand will be maintained, operating as "P&S Credit Union, a Division of Firefighters Credit Union."
Why we're joining together
P&S Credit Union was founded in 1956 to serve the Plumbers and Steamfitters union and has since grown to serve members of a variety of local unions. For decades, both of our credit unions have focused on providing exceptional service and great value for our members. That focus isn't changing. Together we'll have about $94 million in assets, 5,700 members, and three locations. That added strength will let us keep delivering the personal service you expect while investing in the products and technology that make your membership even more valuable.
What this means for you
You don't need to do anything. Your account numbers, debit and credit cards, checks, routing number, and online and mobile banking will all stay the same. Our hours and branches are not changing.
After the merger takes effect, the P&S branch will keep the P&S name while we combine our operations, a process we expect to take up to a year. Once that work is complete, FFCU members will be welcome at the P&S branch, and P&S members will be welcome at our branches. We'll keep you informed along the way.
Your deposits remain federally insured
Your savings will continue to be federally insured by NCUA up to applicable limits. If you have accounts at both credit unions, your P&S deposits will be insured separately from your FFCU deposits for six months after the merger. Certificates opened at P&S before the merger will be insured separately until they mature.
Protect yourself from scams
Scammers sometimes use news like this to target members. Firefighters Credit Union will never call, text, or email you asking for your password, PIN, card number, or security codes. If you receive a suspicious request, hang up and call us directly at 801-487-3219.
